What is PRF?
Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a therapeutic substance derived from a patient’s own blood, primarily used in medical and dental procedures to enhance tissue healing and regeneration. The process involves drawing a small amount of the patient’s blood and then centrifuging it to separate its components. PRF contains a concentrated amount of platelets, growth factors, and fibrin, forming a gel-like substance. When applied to surgical sites or wounds, PRF stimulates natural tissue repair mechanisms, promoting faster healing, reduced inflammation, and improved tissue quality. Due to its autologous nature (derived from the patient’s own blood), PRF is generally considered safe and well-tolerated in various medical and dental applications.
